Dr. Vavrik's Office:
Adam had been rehearsing this one for a few days . . . oh who am I kidding - it had been spinning in his head for months - but now with the time of reckoning close at hand - he had it down cold. After some small talk, Adam launched into his rehearsed speech. All in all, it went relatively well and in the end, it went a little something like this:

"Andrea and I have been dating for almost 3 years now and I don't think it is much of a secret to anyone how we feel about each other. Lately, I've lately come to the realization of something that I have always known in one way or another, which is that I know I can't live my life without Andrea. I am in love with your daughter Dr. Vavrik and with your permission, (dramatic pause . . . ) I would like to ask her to marry me."  * GULP *

Short and sweet - straight to the point.

Not to get off the subject, but if anyone is searching for a dentist - look no further - he's got great dental hygienists working for him, a wonderful receptionist and has Finding Nemo running practically on a loop so you can watch while you get your teeth cleaned. (That's my little plug for the future fam')

Apparently Dr. Vavrik figured it was coming, he just didn't know when. Adam doesn't remember the exact approval (sort of a breath-holding blur), but he got the general gist of it. Adam's future Father-in-Law's one concern . . . being able to keep this all a secret until Adam actually popped the question. I'm not sure if he was shocked or relived when he was informed that he would only have to keep the secret for a few hours - it was happening tonight! All the same, he promised to have a bottle of champagne waiting when they returned. And so, it was off to the Vavrik Hacienda for dinner.
