How he proposed:
Adam had known for quite some time that Andrea was the one for
him. Well before he popped the question, when the thoughts of marriage first
began to form, he started saving for a ring that would wow her (Adam knows that
Andrea likes things that sparkle). When the feelings only got stronger, he
started doing his diamond homework using the Internet. Color Cut Clarity Carat -
- - no problem, he had this stuff down cold. He took a deep breath and walked
through the doors of a jewelry shop he hoped he could trust. When he found just
the right diamond and modified the setting to what he hoped would fit Andrea's
taste - there were only a few things left to do - pick a date to ask her,
finalize "the plan" and speak with the other men in Andrea's life.
 His hope
was to be able to bring Andrea to 1 of 2 Clementi Family
Reunions to make their official announcement (For those of you
who are not Clementi born, it's important to know that ONLY
spouses or fiancés may attend the reunions - if you're not
family - you don't come - no exceptions). With the reunion date
quickly approaching, while trying to get a hold of Daddy Vavrik,
Adam started banging away on the piano to teach himself a
fitting song for the occasion (Plan A) - but with little time to
practice and a lack of tuned pianos at his disposal, Plan A
eventually fell by the wayside. But at least the date was set -
July 7, 2006.
This is not to say anything
about TRYING to get a hold of Andrea's father to ask permission.
After repeated attempts to call him at his office, or on his
cell phone - all of which ended with Momma Vavrik answering the
phone, he FINALLY caught him on July 7th (talk about the skin of
your teeth). This happened to be the same day that Adam had
asked Andrea's 2 younger brothers
(Matt and Robby)
to meet them for lunch at Portillos.
